Climate Change in the Arctic

Animals in the arctic are perishing, losing their homes, and drowning. It is terrible, but it is true. This is the result of climate change.

According to dictionary.com,"climate change is a long-term change in the earth's climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature".

The pollution we are realeasing into the air is heating up of the atmosphere, speeding up the process of the glaciers melting. A way for you to imagine how it works is this: say you are in an entirley locked up car with the heat getting progressively hotter. You have an ice cream cone that you are refraining from eating until you get home. What do you think is going to happen to the ice cream cone? It's going to melt, right? It's the same with the icebergs, but the car is the atmosphere, and the heat is the warmth of the pollution (car exhaust, that kind of thing). The atmosphere is keeping the heat in, and the heat is gradually melting the icebergs leaving the animals to suffer.

The more the glaciers melt, the more animals are left without homes. Animals often get stuck on pieces of ice that break away. When the ice melts, the animals will most likely drown unless thay can somehow manage to swim back to the mainland, and not all arctic animals can swim.

As you can see animals in the arctic are perishing, losing their homes, and drowning because of climate change. I hope that you try your best to be mindful of the environment in order to help save the animals. Please stop/cut down on pollution!
